My Trackies

My trackies are worn,
but I still wear them often.
They are a second skin to me
They make me feel complete.
I pull them on almost every morning,
until they wait for me at night.
my trackies are me.

The rubber tuby

Last Thursday Kotuku went rafting from Grossis Point around the wharf to the leisure park. Our raft was called the rubber tuby. We had to make them out of inner tubes, rope and 3 long branches. While we were still tightening our ropes our rivals the 'Post-mortem' were already launching so we raced down to the boat ramp while the 'Post-mortem' were already in the water. As we slid into the cold water the race was on. When we paddled out into the current we could see our rivals sinking. As we came around the wharf we started to paddle frantically to get into the leisure park to stop as from getting swept out to sea.....

Stoke school Rockfest

On Tuesday the Mahana School band 'Wet Cement' entered the Stoke School Rockfest and performed about 150 people. We played New Divide, Rolling in the Deep and Bang, Bang, Bang.

We played 12th out of thirteen bands. We went alot better than we thought we would. There were a few out of time moments but it was really good.

When all of the bands finished, there was the prizegiving. Everyone was given a $50 voucher from Music Planet. After that there was a draw for an electric guitar. Each school had a number from 1 to 13. Pete Mitchener shook the box with the numbers and one of the numbers fluttered out. He picked it up and read "Number 12, Mahana!" It was awesome. I went up to claim the prize. At school, people were queuing up to have a go on it.

In the end, it was an awesome day and I hope we'll do it next year too.

The bone tiki

Tom and I have been reading the Bone Tiki by David hair. We would give it 4.5 out of 5. Our favourite part was when the taniwha crunched up two cars. The bone tiki is about a boy called mat who steals a magical object called the bone tiki. he then runs away and summons a long-dead warrior called Wiri.
