Canada's Wonderland!

                                               Canada's Wonderland!

Canada's Wonderland has so many rollercoasters!

Most of them are very scary and nerve racking. They are like that because on a lot of them they are either spinning very fast or, up side down. The really fun ones are the water rides. Canada's Wonderland has one of the scariest and biggest roller coasters in the world. I can't believe how many roller coasters there are at Canada's Wonderland!

Canada's Wonderland is so much fun because... there are really good treats, it's fun to go with your friend and the roller coasters aren't just scary there really fun aswell! The roller coasters are really fun because they go up side down, they twirl and twist they also rock from side to side. The treats are really good because there very sweet and on a hot day at Canada's Wonderland you would probably want ice cream! It's fun to go with your friend because it is funny to listen to your friend scream on the scarier rides.
The water rides are so much fun because you get completely soaked! It's amazing how wet you can get from just one of the water rides. The ride that you get the wettest on is called "The Drop"! On the drop you go up a huge hill on a tread mill then you just drop down a huge hill into heaps of water!

At Canada's Wonderland there are usally 900-1000 people there per day (maybe even more than that). I can't believe how many people go there espically since it is quite expensive! That is why I think Canada's Wonderland is so cool and wicked!

Inspirational ICT Day

I had an inspirational day at the ICT Lead Teacher meeting today. Allanah (ICT Facilitator) presented a huge range of websites that will be so useful in the classroom (and beyond!) I am chokkablok full of ideas and I need to take some time to sift through them, then pass them on.

Meantime, if you want to check some of the stuff out, go to: http://webtoolsforschools.wikispaces.com/

Leave a comment if you find something interesting.

Creative Scones

So creative and absolutely delicious!

Maggi Cook Off

On Tuesday, 9 year seven and eight's competed to get into the Mahana School Maggi Cooking Team. There can only be 4 people per team so we had to battle it off. We got put into teams of three and baked our hearts out! We each made scones and were judged on presentation, taste, and mainly teamwork. Our scones turned out great and the teachers loved them! We had 40 minutes to prepare, cook and clean up, then after the teachers were done we shared them with the class. The teachers had choosen Harriet, Safari, and Izzie so far but needed one more person for the team. So the next day we saw how fast the others could slice and dice! They cut up apples and timed them as they went. So congratulations... JOSIE! She made it into the team. Everyone did a great job and in our minds, they are also part of the team! We had a awesome day!

My Time In New Zealand!

Tuesday,March 15 2011

The reason that I came to New Zealand from Canada is because every four years my dad gets a year off teaching so this year we decided to come to New Zealand, five years ago we went to British Columbia. I am very happy that we decided to come to New Zealand this year! New Zealand is a great place to be I'm so happy to be here! So far we have gone to the beach a couple of times the beach is beautiful! Yesterday we did a event called "Muddy Buddy" we had to do a 1Km. race in mud it was quite challenging but so much fun! Today is my first day of school... I am really enjoying school it was really cool because today the year eights are doing a cook off there making Scones they look AND smell really good! Other than that it has been craziness we have been looking for a house, parents finding jobs, buying a car and so much more chaos. Anyways New Zealand is a lovely place to live in.

Canada is a much different country than New Zealand. It is different because in Canada it can get very cold like as cold as -25 degrees it is freezing! Canada is a country that is loves to skate and play ice Hockey my brother and I play hockey aswell it is so much fun! Canada can also get quite hot in the summer it can get as hot as +30 degrees. I think that it is very cool to be visiting different countries aswell. I think that New Zealand is going to be one of my favorite countries that I will visit over the years.

My time in New Zealand... So far

Tuesday March 16th. So far visiting New Zealand has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. Starting off with arriving here everybody has been extremely helpful and friendly. We are still just settling in at New Zealand. There has been a lot of craziness going on at my house (parents getting jobs, getting us in school, banking, buying a car, and looking for a house to rent). Along with all of this craziness we have been able to fit in a lot good times like many beach visit's, climbing Mt. Arthur, seeing Golden Bay, and participating in muddy buddy, seeing some amazing scenery and eating at some nice restaurants. Hopefully everyone else will start to fall into place soon, but my time has been great in New Zealand.

We have traveled all the way from Canada, Newmarket, Ontario to come to New Zealand. Back in Canada there are many similarities and many differences. In Canada it can get as cold as -25 or even -30 with the wind chill and can get as warm as 30. The sports in Canada are also very different. The most popular sport by far in Canada is ice-hockey. Almost everyone there plays hockey. Another very popular sports are skiing and snowboarding, I play both of these sports, and my favourite is hockey. I also play basketball, soccer, baseball, and volleyball. The land is also much different. Here there are many mountains, in Canada there are not nearly as many mountains. There are also more big cities in Canada.
