We had a fantabulous time at Capital E. I was director and, I'm telling it is a very, very stressful job!!! However I did get to boss people around a bit.....

The Power Of One

Briar, Izzie, and Georgia have been reading 'The Power of One' by Bryce Courtenay.
The book is about a young boy called Peekay who wishes to be the Welterweight Champion Boxer. Peekay is English and faces a hard childhood in South Africa. He starts of at a boarding school full of Dutch children and grows up to care for everyone. Peekay makes many friends during his challenging years, and learns that life is about everyone being happy and in on it together. This is the power of one.
Our opinion on this book: We like 'The Power Of One' because it challenged us enough to make the book interesting, but didn't bore us to death either! It also has many very stong morals we should all remember in life.
We recommend this book to 12 and over because it has some bad language and violence.

Tomorrow when the war began

Swimming Sports

On Tuesday, the 8 year olds and up did the senior swimming sports at Upper Moutere School. We did well, everyone tried really hard and we came second in both the relays. Hannah was our championship swimmer for freestyle and breaststroke coming third in both, and Safari did backstroke, coming second. It was a hot day but it was cool (ha ha ha!)

I've been meaning to put in a post about this for AGES! This is at my Nana's 90th birthday. It was like a family reunion. Everyone from Mum's side of the family came and my other Grandma came too. We had a camera guy and girl come and take loads of photos of the seperate familys in the big family, and then a big photo of all of us. We had a really posh table and Rowan and I made a little poem up about Nana which we said in front of everyone. After a delicious feast at the buffet we did some ukulele playing and songs. Happy Birthday Nana, you ROCK!!!

Monday 28th July was no ordinary day at school, unless seeing things from millions of years ago is normal.
Yesterday Mahana School went to see real fossils and bones and amazing things from the Triassic and the Jurassic time. We were split into two groups. Group 1 went to the museum first while Group 2 went on a walk in the Richmond hills (In the Triassic time it was actually the sea bed and saw lots of Fossils. At lunch we went to a Park in stoke where we had a breath of fresh air before swapping our activities. At the museum we learnt about the size of dinosaurs and how one shark-like dinosaur was around 14 metres long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The day was like walking back in time, we had so much fun.

The first picture is me and my friends at my party this year having a great time playing a game where you have to eat the lolly snake ina race.

The other one is just recently when a few of my friends and I had a Harry Potter party. I dressed up as Snape, Kaitlyn as Hermione, Georgia as Luna Lovegood, Izzie as Professor Mcgonagall, Philip as Colin Creevey and Emma as Dumbledore.

Wow!! Look at that veiw. This was on the first Tuesday and Wednesdayof the holidays, when my family (Rowan Dad my cousins, Auntie and Uncle) and I went on a sailing trip round the Able Tasman. We were going to stay for two nights but the weather was too rough when Mum gave us a weather update over the phone (she wasn't there because she had to work.) The cutter is the big one on the left and the rescue boat is the miniscule one on the right. It was awesome because we saw eels and fish in the little lago

bit at the back of the campsite, and when we were on the boat we could stand on the side and hold on to the ropes while we leaned out ARRR me hearty's(we looked like pirates.)

The Great almighty walk!

We enjoyed ourselves loads on camp and the great almighty walk made it shine even more. We went on a long, long, long bridge over the estuary, and trudged through the beautiful native bush. Stopping at a nice clearing along the way for lunchwas a relief! Mmm, mmm, our lunches were deliciosly nice and enjoying it left us in a good mood for the rest of the walk.

The Gala

• The Mahana Seniors were very busy on the 18th of October when they were running every where trying to get stalls working for the Mahana School Gala. Although they were busy, together it was a heap of fun. The stalls we had were: Fishing game, Horizontal bungie, Water baloon throw, Slushie's, Pony Rides and Talent Quest. The weather was definitely on our side as the sun was blazing beautifully. We made $16,000 in the end,Wow! I enjoyed myself loads and the singing and dancing was great.
